Hawaii *Limited Edition* Print - Supporting those affected by the Kilauea eruption - only 10 available
This is a reproduction of an original acrylic painting I did depicting the volcanic rocks on the Big Island, Hawaii. Hawaii is such a special place! After working there in 2018, I fell in love with the land, its lifestyle, and its people. When you visit Hawaii, you will no doubt hear stories of the goddess Pelé and her volcanic creations on the island. Because of these legends, there is a high respect for the volcanic rocks and you are warned of a curse should you take a piece home with you. For years, people have returned pieces of lava rock they once took from the island as a souvenir in hopes the bad luck they've experienced since taking it would cease.
This painting is my portrayal of the special place where volcanic rock meets ocean (known as Pelé's sister, Namakaokahai) in the Kealakekua Bay. The bay was one of my favorite places to visit during my stay on the Island. It was one of the many beautiful places that taught me about the biodiversity that exists in Hawaii as well as the special energy you find when you visit. This painting is made out of my respect for this island, its people, and their culture.
In support of those affected by the current Kilauea eruptions on the Big Island, 40% of all proceeds from the sale of this print, go to the Hawaii Food Basket.
